Our Story

Better Coffee.

Working in Information Technology and the like, you never know what direction your day will end up going in. It can go from sitting at your desk wondering if, today, you’ll break your previous record for number of eye rolls by noon, to frantically rushing to a remote site that’s miles away that reportedly has a “fire” to put out - which either turns out to be a cable “no one” knocked loose, or what’s been described to me as an “RGE” (a ‘Resume Generating Event’ - in layman’s terms, a job terminating event).

What gets us all going in the morning and ready to face these kinds of things - and keeps us workers and homemakers grounded and moving throughout those kinds of days, is a fresh cup of coffee, or three.

I used to be a weekend coffee drinker, but then one day entered the professional workforce where I discovered the attraction and power of terrible coffee. It was free, usually unlimited, and most importantly, not at my desk – the best kind of “terrible” there was. Terrible coffee stole me away from bad posture and staring at the hypnotic light panel, to a point where days felt strange without that routine displacement. The thing is, I really didn't know how terrible it was.

The smell of morning dread and of awful coffee surrounded by awful people (at least before filling their cups) became the daily ritual… and a daily game of roulette: who was going to have to refill the pot, who was going to have to go get more cups, tops or stirrers, who was going to have to get more sugar, and who was going to get NO sugar.

In time, I developed a plan for myself to graduate from “terrible”: I started to bring my own mug, creamers, even coffee from time to time. My coffee appreciation and experience began to grow with me on the job. Soon enough, I was drinking specialty coffees & testing new ways to brew & indulge. It became something to look forward to. Remarkably, days moved quicker, I actually understood the plans pitched during the last half of the morning meetings, and I had something desirable I could take my time with at my desk and appreciate working on throughout my day. Things there got done.

Fast forward some years later, and following a nasty COVID outbreak, I, like many others, was cast into an alternate work environment: the home office. The smell of dread was replaced with the aroma of good coffee – I was forced to embrace a variety of non-free coffee, but it soon became the smell of great coffee.

I’ve leveled up. Though you might not work in IT or smell that same kind of dread in the mornings, for whatever it is you do, myself and the team at Blaque Gold are here to provide to you that same “level-up” opportunity – starting, getting through, and completing your days with great coffee. The BEST coffee.

Enjoy.
